Macao Light Rapid Transit Hengqin Line Extension
The Hengqin Line extension project of Macao Light Rapid Transit is a route connecting the Lotus Checkpoint and Hengqin Port. It is about 2.2 kilometres long – 900 metres of which being an underwater tunnel – and two stations starting from station HE1 located nearby the Lotus Bridge in Macao and then arrives at the underground HE2 station located in front of Hengqin Port. The Hengqin Line extension project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024. After the completion of the construction of the second phase of Zhuhai Urban Rail Transit, it will only take about 10 to 15 minutes from Hengqin Port to Zhuhai Airport. This means that the Macao Light Rail and Zhuhai Airport Intercity Railway will offer a seamless transfer between borders. The distance between the two light-rail platforms is only 3 metres, enabling tourists to get to Zhuhai Airport from Macao conveniently.
